Recognised in top 1% of financial advisers in UK

Portafina’s success continues as third major accolade is received in 2018

Standing out in the financial industry is no easy task, so to be recognised as a leading financial services business three times in one year really separates Portafina from the crowd.

On 28th November it was announced that Medway-based pension advice firm Portafina are now one of the top financial advisers in the UK, as determined by the industry publication FT Adviser (part of the Financial Times Group).

Portafina’s position on the Top 100 Financial Advisers list puts them in the top 1% of all financial advice firms. This follows their previous 2018 award success in the FT Future 100 UK and KM MegaGrowth 50 lists.

To determine your place on the list, FT Adviser looks at all the financial advice businesses operating in the UK and rates them based on a complex set of industry criteria. These range from the investment growth achieved for clients and amount of business they write to the qualifications of the advisers themselves.

Jamie Smith-Thompson, Managing Director of Portafina, is delighted that the company has once again been acknowledged for its contribution to the financial industry.

He said: “There are some of the financial industry’s biggest and best in this list and most have been operating for half a century or more. To have the Portafina name sitting amongst them so soon is something I am immensely proud of.

“From a small startup to a team of 180, this award highlights the impact that the local people we employ in Medway can have on a national level.

“There are around 5,500 financial advice firms in the UK employing over 25,000 advisers. FT Adviser’s ranking puts Portafina in the top 1% of financial advisory businesses working in the UK today. For us, this is a very special achievement.

“Being presented with three major awards in 2018 is actually quite hard to take in. We are all looking forward to seeing where 2019 takes us.”
